Elderly housing coming to South Boston

A development team has proposed building 46 units of affordable housing for the elderly on a vacant lot in the Mary Ellen McCormack housing development of the Boston Housing Authority.

O’Connor Way, LLC is a joint venture of the South Boston Neighborhood Development Corporation and Caritas Communities, filed the project notification form with the Boston Redevelopment Authority today.

They want to build a 47 unit apartment building in five stories on a 15,000 square foot site. One unit would be for a building manager, but the others woud be affordable and restricted to people 62 and older. The site is only 0.2 miles from Andrew Square and the Red Line and only a gloriously small seven parking spaces would be built.
