Boston homeownership rate falls

According to United States Census Bureau data released yesterday, the homeownership rate in the Boston Metropolitan Statistical Area, was at 59.5 percent in the fourth quarter of 2015.

While The Globe claims that this is the first time homeownership in the region has fallen below 60 percent since the Census started tracking it, however, the quarterly data showed that it actually happened in the second quarter, when it fell to 58.2 percent.

In the fourth quarter of 2014, however, the rate was 63 percent.
