Unsurprisingly, the Fiscal and Management Control Board voted to end late night service on the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority effective March 18, according to the Transit Matters Twitter.
While not unexpected it should not be forgotten that the fix was in from the start.
The T never bothered with promoting the service, the community meetings were a joke — poorly advertised and poorly timed, they refused to consider alternatives and they deliberately gutted ridership by cutting back on the service.
To make things worse, The Boston Globe’s transportation reporter, Nicole Dungca, has shown that the service was not budgeted for before it was cut.
To paraphrase Bill “Spaceman” Lee, “The universe wants to expand. Only the MBTA wants to shrink.”
