`Apartment building, new synagogue planned for Brighton site

Congregation Kadimah-Toras Moshe and the Daughters of Israel Mikvah have joined forces with a developer, “105 Washington, LLC” to redevelop several parcels at 101-105 Washington St in Brighton. In addition to building a new synagogue and mikvah (a ritual bath), some of the land will be used to construct a 73-unit apartment building with 64 parking spaces.

In a letter of intent filed with the Boston Redevelopment Authority, the reasons given for the proposal is the desire of the congregations to update and expand their facilities, which are described as inadequate. The site is 35,772 square feet. The new mikvah will have about 5,000 gross square feet, the new synagogue 9,000 gross square feet and the new apartment building 85,330 gross square feet.

As the total project is well over 50,000 square feet it will be subject to Large Project Review.
