The 411 must be one of the most bizarre bus routes the T operates.
Going from Malden Station to a senior living facility called the Jack Satter House with stops neart the Revere Beach and Wonderland stations on the Blue Line, the route makes three — yes, three — major detours. It loops around to get into the Grenada Highlands apartment complex, then makes two loops to serve the Northgate Shopping Center.
This absurd situation is the result of deliberate policy bias in favor of the automobile. Grenada Highlands could have built facing in the street. Route One and Squire Roads could be streets and not highways. Instead the car was elevated above all things and the bus rider has to suffer.
